Rev. Katie Choy-Wong Leadership Endowment & Seminarian Scholarship Funds
Mission and Background
The Alliance of Asian American Baptist Churches (AAABC) Seminarian Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance to Asian and Asian American emerging leaders as they seek further education and development for the fields of theology and ministry in seminary. Scholarships from the fund will support tuition, room and board, books, other supplies necessary for the students’ studies.

The AAABC Seminarian Scholarship Fund captures the spirit of the many Asian American leaders that have come before, setting an example of faithful service, firm identity of an Asian American follower of Christ, and inspirational leadership of people like Rev. Katie Choy-Wong.

In honor of Rev. Katie Choy-Wong’s retirement in the spring of 2019, we recognized her years of faithful service. Katie served
-
the denomination nationally (as the first full time director of Asian Ministries for ABHMS),
-
regionally (as Area Director for the East Bay for American Baptist Churches of the West), and with
-
the seminary (as the Admissions Director for the American Baptist Seminary of the West).
-
In 2000, Katie was called to be the pastor of New Life Christian Fellowship, Castro Valley where she served for nineteen years.
In her various ministries, Katie worked to support and grow American Baptist churches of all ethnic backgrounds, with a special focus on Asian American churches and ministries.
